Germany Lotto History

The Deutscher Lotto-und Totoblock lottery organization of Germany began the German Lotto in 1974.  For decades, this lottery has given away some of the biggest prizes in the world and continues to do so until today.  A total  €5 billion is given away annually in prizes by the German Lotto which is one of the reasons for its popularity.

The German lotto has undergone some changes since it began but the jackpots have only grown.  In 2007 a €43 million top prize was won topping the most recent win records for the Lotto.

How it Works

The German Lotto uses a to drum system, the first drum draws the first six numbers that players choose between one and forty-nine and the second drum draws the Super Number from zero to nine.  You can choose your own numbers or have them automatically selected for you.  Players can also choose a systematic form featuring 8, 9, 10, or eleven numbers which gives all possible number combinations.

The Lotto is drawn twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday so don’t miss out.

How to Win

If you are lucky enough to match all six regular numbers and the lucky number you’ll have won the main jackpot prize.  If you match a wide variety of number combinations and the lucky number you can win one of the nine prize categories too.

€1 million is the minimum jackpot but on average the Germany Lotto reaches €5.24 million.  The lottery prizes are all tax free making the Germany Lotto a very attractive bet.

Some numbers are selected more than others with the German Lotto, those numbers are: 38, 22, 29, 45, 30, and 42.

In contrast, the least chosen numbers are: 7, 3, 28, 32, 36, and 37.
